Head Start Offers Learning Support for Parents through Facebook

Given the COVID-19 crisis, our Head Start sites are all closed until April 6 (or until told otherwise). To help our Head Start parents still engage their children in learning while away from school, our Head Start leadership got a little creative. They created a “Home School Support” Facebook Page, specifically for Williamson & Burnet County clients.

We created the Facebook page to stay connected to our Head Start families and to support them at home during unprecedented times. The Facebook page is intended to help support the families as they continue to work with their young children at home.  We want the children to be able to see their teachers remotely while they read a story to them or sing a familiar song.  We want the children to feel the love the teachers have for them! ” – Claudia Barnes, Head Start Coordinator

The Facebook page is providing resources for parents that help them find school meals, ideas for toddler indoor activities, and how-to’s for easy arts and crafts projects. The page is also engaging our Head Start children by sharing numerous story time read aloud sessions, one of which features renowned children’s book author, Eric Carle.

We invite you, as a Head Start client or not, to explore our page and help share some refreshingly fun content for the community during this difficult time. See you at the next story time!
