Texas Mutual, an Austin-based provider of workers’ compensation insurance, is on a mission to make an impact in the greater Austin community. Today, Texas Mutual announced that they are donating $2 million in funding for nonprofits in the area to aid in COVID-19 relief.

Out of that total, Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties (OWBC) was gifted $50,000 to help with COVID-19 resources in the community.

The funding falls under “unrestricted funds,” meaning OWBC is able to allocate the funds centrally or to any of its four programs–wherever the funding is needed most. Currently, OWBC is working to ensure that our neighbors in need have access to meals, to learning resources for their children, and to financial assistance for paying their energy bill.

“Our mission of creating a stronger, safer Texas is more important now than it ever has been. As a state, we’re blessed to have so many nonprofits doing difficult and necessary work to care for our communities. Partnering with them to take care of Texans is an honor,” Rich Gergasko, president and CEO of Texas Mutual, said. “This donation will help them retain staff, provide resources and save the lives of Texans during a time when they are needed most.”

With this donation, Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties will be able to help more community members in need, to provide safety and relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you, Texas Mutual!
