Georgetown, TX, November 4, 2021 – Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties (OWBC) is responding to meet the needs of local children, families, and seniors through Meals on Wheels, Head Start, and Community Services programs. This GivingTuesday, OWBC will inspire generosity that prioritizes health, independence, and dignity for all community members in Williamson and Burnet Counties.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the holiday season this year by inspiring people to give back on November 30, 2021.
OWBC joined the GivingTuesday movement because of the demand for assistance in Williamson and Burnet Counties. All funds raised benefit OWBC and can be utilized where they’re needed most. Monies raised can provide hot meals for seniors, childcare and education for little ones from birth to age five, and education for individuals transitioning out of poverty. OWBC’s $7,000 goal for the GivingTuesday campaign will allow all these needs to be met.
“GivingTuesday is one of the best times to give back. Our clients need community support, and folks giving back to benefit their neighbors in need makes such a powerful statement for this generosity movement,” said Emily Hayes, Director of Marketing at OWBC.
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
Those who are interested in joining OWBC’s GivingTuesday initiative can donate now through November 30th. Interested donors can submit a monetary donation, show support by shopping via our AmazonSmile link, or drop off a toy for our Book & Toy Drive for Head Start.
